This is something that has been bothering me for some time now. How is Nascar so popular. I mean, I am not a huge sports fan, but I do enjoy sitting around and watching some games once in awhile. But Nascar? Where is the fun in that. I was shocked to find out that cars driving around in a circle for 500 miles is the #1 spectator sport in the nation.
Let’s go through the steps of a Nascar race:
- Cars are lined up
- The race starts
- Cars proceed down a straight road until they are forced to make a left turn
- Repeat step 3 a couple thousand times
- Finish flag is waived eventually
Oh boy. This sounds like a winning sport to me. Granted, I have yet to actually see a race live. I have had many people and friends tell me that they are amazing to goto. I however don’t think that I would be able to make it through an entire race. I would either be passed out from alcohol poisoning from trying to kill the boredom or get carpal tunnel of the neck from the repeated neck turns to the left to watch the cars go around in a circle.
What’s even better is that if you have DirectTV, you can get the Nascar channel. Not only do you get to watch cars make lots of left turns, you can specifically watch your favorite drivers make those turns as if you were in the passager seat.
I’m not sure how I contain my excitement.
